Tip: Just be careful with your hand on the tile while drawing, the gel pen smudges much easier. Interesting find: Yellow is not a good colour for the circles. Almost any other darker shade bleeds into the yellow. I used the "STEADTLER triplus fineliner" for the lines inside the circles and "Typo" gel pens for the circles. The shading was done with "Colleen 775" pencils. Unfortunately I could not find the name of the tangle design online in order to credit the creator. | After my last art post "To colour or not to colour" I told you I preferred the black and white tangling. I did however want to see what the colours would look like on the official Zentangle® tiles. Here you can see the results! I had a few interesting decisions while making these tiles and I thought they might be interesting to you:) 1 - I found that if I make the circles in a lighter shade of the colour, the line inside the circle makes a little dot on the edge of the circle, which gives it a cool effect. 2 - I even used a completely different colour in the red tile for the circles - I used pink. So depending on which angle you look at the tile it looks like it is a different shade of red (also cool). 3 - I experimented with a normal gel pen in the blue and green tiles, because the gel pen dries differently on the paper, giving it a different texture. 4 - I did shading the lighter shade of the colour and experimented with shading inside the circles vs outside. Whenever I've dealt with the Kingsmore Choristers, I've always been amazed at their generosity and kind spirit, not to mention their enchanting voices!
They did not disappoint this time around either. It was an honour to be invited to sing on Sunday, 1st of November at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium. I was very impressed with the quality of the music performed there and how young some of the performers were. Let no-one ever tell you that we do not have talent in South Africa!
Thank you to all involved and especially to Linda Claassen for letting me sing with the City of Tygerberg Choir and to Elizabeth Retief for the accompaniment of my solos.
The young lady in the photo, approached me after the concert and whispered in my ear: "I saw you on stage!" - she stole my heart. Please will her mommy let me know her name so that I can send her a big thank you.
Also enjoy the pic's and comment below this post (here on my site) on your favourite moment in the concert!
